Description:

The Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (the Test) aims to assess aspects of personal literacy and numeracy proficiency of students in initial teacher education programs in Australia.

Implementation of the Test will give effect to the Accreditation of Initial Teacher Education Programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures (Accreditation Standards), which require that teacher education students must have personal literacy and numeracy skills in the top 30 per cent of the population either on entry to, or on graduation from, a teacher education course.

Once implemented nationally, the Test will help to build confidence in the community about the quality of initial teacher education graduates
