DVA is inviting proposals from suppliers on the content and method of delivery for the mental health literacy training program during financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25.
The objectives of the mental health literacy program are to:
- Increase the understanding of mental health literacy and suicide intervention in the veteran community
- Provide the veteran community with the skills to recognise early warning signs and to provide appropriate first aid help or access more appropriate supports
- Build capacity for meeting the needs of individuals within the veteran community who are at risk by delivering the training to up 2000 participants over two years, and
- Provide the veteran community with the capacity to maintain an environment where individuals, families and communities can build resilience and improve their general health and wellbeing during times of adversity.
The method of delivery must also include the following:
- Delivered to participants in all Australian States and Territories across both metropolitan and regional locations,
- Delivered in a variety of formats,
- Delivered in a variety of durations.
Depending on the procured approach, the supplier may also deliver Train-the-Trainer (T4T) training for DVA staff to build capability of accredited trainers to meet the demand to deliver mental health literacy training to the veteran community.

- have an Australian Business Number (ABN),
- be incorporated or established by legislation in Australia
