Description:

The Bureau of Meteorology (Bureau) requires a highly accurate and cost-effective high-resolution lightning data service over the entire land area of mainland Australia and Tasmania and neighbouring marine areas to at least 300 kilometres offshore.

In combination with a recently procured global lightning data service for principally Aviation and Defence use, this procurement aims to fulfil the Bureau's requirements for high-resolution lightning data that supports several additional critical weather services over the Australian region. The service will accurately differentiate between Cloud to Ground lightning and Intra-Cloud lightning strikes.
