This investment will estimate the economic impacts of pests and diseases across crops and grain growing regions. It will provide an indication of the scale of losses to be minimised to protect potential yield. It will inform on how these impacts may have changed since the previous loss assessments. The process will seek opportunities to incorporate measures of adoption of RDE to quantify to impacts of GRDC investment. This investment proposal considers diseases and pests KIT outcomes 3.3.3 (disease) and 3.4.1 (pests). The previous reports are: The Current and Potential Costs from Diseases of Wheat in Australia 2009; The Current and Potential Costs from Diseases of Barley in Australia 2009; The Current and Potential Costs from Diseases of Oilseed crops in Australia 2011; The Current and Potential Costs from Diseases of Pulse crops in Australia 2011; The Current and Potential Costs of Invertebrate pests in grain crops in Australia 2013. GRDC can provide the successful applicant with access to some specific data sets, being majority GRDC crop type, crop hectares, yields, resistance rating mix of regional production and financial data by ABS SA2 to assist with the analyses.
