Provision of legal services to the Department of Finance and Deregulation

The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) is seeking to appoint a new panel of law firms to replace the existing Finance Legal Panel. Potential tenderers will be required to identify their areas of special expertise in specified areas of law, rather than demonstrating a capacity to meet all of Finance’s legal needs. Seven areas of legal specialisation have been identified: These are:
• E-Government/Information Technology Law;
• General insurance law (Comcover);
• HR/Employment law;
• Commercial legal advice;
• Litigation (Commercial);
• Litigation (Public Law); and
• Statutory Interpretation (Public Law).
Potential tenderers may submit tenders addressing one or more, or all of these Services.
The Tenderer is a legal practice that:
a. complies with all applicable State laws governing the legal profession;
b. is subject to the control of a relevant State Law Society or Part VIIIB of the Judiciary Act 1903;
c. has professional indemnity insurance which meets the requirements of a relevant State Law Society; and
d. that nominated legal personnel must be admitted in an Australian jurisdiction to practise law.
