Appointment of a Group Training Organisation (GTO) to administer the Australian Public Service (APS) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) New Apprenticeship Programme
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart
AGIMO fosters the efficient and effective use of ICT by Australian Government agencies and provides leadership in defining and driving government-wide ICT strategy, standards and technical architecture.
On 16 May 2007, the Australian Government's Management Advisory Committee endorsed a range of initiatives to address the current and projected shortfalls in ICT skills identified in the Management Advisory Committee report, Managing and Sustaining the APS Workforce (2005), including an APS ICT New Apprenticeship Programme (Programme) commencing in 2008. The Programme follows the pilot APS ICT Apprenticeship Programme, which has placed over 70 apprentices across 10 Australian Government agencies since its commencement in February 2007.
Finance wishes to engage a Service Provider to assist the Commonwealth in implementing the Programme. Finance anticipates that it will require multiple groups (referred to in this RFT as cohorts) of approximately 40 to 60 Apprentices during the term of the Programme, to be placed with approximately 12 to 16 Australian Government agencies (Host Agencies).
Finance expects that the first cohort of Apprentices will commence their placements with Host Agencies in February 2008.
