Terrestrial Communications
The Terrestrial Communications ITR is the initial procurement process to source a suitable provider to provision the core of a broader program of work to upgrade both the DTCN and other elements of the Defence ICT infrastructure to ensure leading edge ICT support continues to be provided in support of war fighter and corporate objectives.

Defence needs to update and upgrade the existing Terrestrial Communications network by building an integrated, high-capacity, highly reliable network which enables Defence to improve the conduct of operations and the management of its business.
In support of Terrestrial Communications requirements the Defence initiated Joint Project (JP) 2047, Phase 3 has been incorporated in the Terrestrial Communications bundle and is expected to:

  • improve the fixed network; and
  • enable improved integration of the fixed network with satellite and tactical networks, providing an integrated end-to-end internet protocol (IP) based network service to all Defence users.

For further information, refer to the attached documents.

‘Trade Show Registrations’

NOTE 1:  On 16 April the Department of Defence invited industry via AusTender to express interest in participating in a Defence facilitated ‘Trade Show’ for Terrestrial Communications (Joint Project (JP) 2047 Phase 3) services. In that notice Defence offered to provide industry with an opportunity to liaise with each other about their specific product offerings and areas of expertise during a half day ‘Trade Show’ on 28 April 2010 in Canberra, ACT. There has been a good response to the invitation and the ‘Trade Show’ will be going ahead as indicated in the AusTender notice.

Parties interested in attending the 'Trade Show' who did not register interest can still attend by registering their desire to attend by emailing the TC Team at:
tc.reform@defence.gov.au

Confirmation of registration and details of the venue and what will be provided by Defence will then be emailed to interested parties.

NOTE 2:  It is important to note that this event is not intended for attendance by any Defence personnel.
