The Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) Is Seeking Expressions of Interest For The Supply And Support For A Modular Combat Body Armour System (MCBAS) For The Army`s Dismounted Close Combatants To Provide Protection And Enhance Survivability Against Contemporary Battlefield Threats. The MCBAS Is Part of Project Land 125 Phase 3 (Soldier Enhancement Version Two, SEv.2) And Includes Provisioning For The Regular Infantry Battalions, Cavalry Reconnaissance Scouts, Air Field Defence Squadrons, Combat Engineer Squadrons, Artillery Command Tactical Party`s And Forward Observers, Combat Training Centre And The Respective Training Command Schools. The Capability Solution For Land 125`s MCBAS Shall Then Be Able To Be Applied As The Baseline For Future Defence Combat Body Armour (CBA) Requirements. MCBAS Is Likely To Have A Service Life of Type of Five Years With Options To Review Based On Technology Availability.

To Fulfil The MCBAS Requirement The Commonwealth Is Seeking A Prime System Integrator (PSI) To Supply And Support The MCBAS Capability. PSI Responsibility Will Include Provision of An Integrated System And The Management of In Service Support Such As Testing, Certification And Maintenance To Ensure Equipment Serviceability And Availability. The PSI Will Be Required To Demonstrate Development And Engineering Activities That Seek To Address Emerging Threats And Protective Equipment Development. Human Factors And Integration Knowledge And Application Will Also Be Key PSI Characteristics.

An Industry Brief For Prospective Respondents Will Be Held At Defence Plaza Melbourne (DPM), 661 Bourke Street Melbourne At 1100am On Wednesday, 31 January 2007. Nominations To Attend The Industry Brief Shall Be Submitted To The Project Leader Survivability Land 125 On (03) 9282 6936 By Wed 24 Jan 07.
