National Trachoma Surveillance and Reporting Unit (NTSRU) I January 2018 to 30 June 2021
To continue operation of the NTSRU to collect, manage and analyse data and report on trachoma in Australia and manage and coordinate the preparation of Australia’s dossier of information to be submitted to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Australian Government has collected trachoma data since 2006 and reports annually to the WHO on progress towards trachoma being eliminated as a public health problem by 2020. The NTSRU will be required to play a significant monitoring, reporting and co-ordination role.
The NTSRU will also be responsible for providing secretariat support to a national reference group and manage and coordinate the preparation of Australia’s dossier of information to be submitted to a WHO expert panel no later than 2020 for independent assessment and validation that trachoma has been eliminated as a public health concern.
