Procurement and Support of Ballistic Tracking System
Acquisition and Sustainment of a Ballistic Tracking System to augment the range instrumentation capability of the Joint Proof & Experimental Unit, Proof & Experimental Establishment - Port Wakefield, South Australia (SA).
1. It is anticipated that the BTS capability will be provided by a combination of radar and optical systems. The Operational Concept Document provides an indicative overview of the solution being considered; however, this is not intended to discourage novel or innovative solutions.
2. The BTS capability will enable JPEU to conduct trials in support of in-service 155mm ammunition and LAND 17 Future Artillery Ammunition including the following: assessment of performance and safety data, and assessment of ballistic data to validate delivery accuracy.
3. The BTS is to enhance the JPEU's capability to operate as an instrumented ballistic test range and enable the staff at Port Wakefield to establish an instrumented range at locations other than Port Wakefield (including the Woomera Test Range, (SA).
