Provision of Airport Building Control Services at Federally Leased Airports
The Commonwealth appoints an airport building controller (ABC) at each federally leased airport to assess building activity applications in accordance with the National Construction Code of Australia and other relevant standards. Subject to appointment of the preferred Tenderer(s) as an ABC, the preferred Tenderer(s) will be required to perform the functions and exercise the powers of an ABC as specified under the Airports Act 1996 and the Airports (Building Control) Regulations 1996 (the Regulations). ABCs are required to be qualified building certifiers and are employed on a contract basis. The ABC will administer and advise airport lessees and operators on building control issues outlined in the Regulations, and implement the building approval system that regulates ongoing building activity at the airport.
