Navy Seamanship Training – Bow Section Models
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart
The Boatswain Faculty require three new working ship training models (Bow sections) in order to realign its equipment with the classes of ships that are currently in service throughout the RAN.
The Boatswain Faculty is seeking to purchase three new scaled Bow Section models with working capstans, brakes and anchors along with the accurate replication of deck fittings (Bottle screw slips, fairleads and cable connecting links for example) to update and realign the schools training aids with the emerging new fleet of ships in service.
These three new models will need to replicate the Landing Helo Dock (LHD), the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) and the Armidale Class Patrol Boat (ACPB) and have a size of approximately 3.5m long, 1.5m wide and 1.3m tall as a guide. These models will need to be mounted onto a cradle with small rubber coated wheels as they will be required to be moved around the demonstration hall frequently to facilitate training. These models will have a long service life (over 20 years) and as such will require robust construction from either fiberglass and or steel to ensure that they can stand up to the training requirements of the school.
