National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) product sourcing and purchasing
Canberra
The Pharmaceutical Access Branch within the Department of Health is holding an industry briefing on Thursday 10 August 2017 to provide background information prior to an open tender process scheduled to be released in late August 2017.
Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia and is increasing at a faster rate than other chronic diseases, placing pressures on the sustainability of the NDSS.
In the 2015-16 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO), the Australian Government announced an open tender process to identify further efficiencies to the NDSS though product sourcing and purchasing.
The Department of Health will be implementing this Government decision by conducting a Request for Tender process. Through this process, the Department is seeking a broad national approach to supply of NDSS products and to deliver savings through bulk product sourcing and purchasing, while addressing needs of registrants and maintaining the integrity and sustainability of the NDSS.
The Department will provide an overview of the Request for Tender process and information related to the supply of currently subsidised NDSS products.
A maximum of two individuals per company can register to attend the briefing by providing the details below:
