Construction of ANSTO SyMo Facility
Sydney
ANSTO is Australia’s National Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation and the centre of Australian nuclear expertise. ANSTO is responsible for undertaking research and development and for delivering specialised advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organisations.
ANSTO wishes to construct a first of a kind waste treatment plant applying Synroc technology for the processing of Intermediate Level Liquid Waste (ILLW) from both prior and current production and expected future production from the Molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) production facilities. This will be known as the SyMo Facility.
The SyMo facility will house a first of a kind production plant for the immobilisation of Intermediate Level Liquid Waste (ILLW) from Mo99 production using Synroc technology.
The SyMo Plant is integral to ANSTO’s Strategic Plan and addresses the requirements for managing radioactive waste.
The purpose of this RFT is to specify ANSTO’s technical, functional and performance requirements to a level of detail that will allow a Contractor to construct the SyMo Facility to ANSTO’s requirements.
The construction site is within the ANSTO site at New Illawarra Rd, Lucas Heights. The SyMo facility will be located in the area known as the Reactor Zone Precinct on the western side of the site as the facility needs to be in close proximity to the existing OPAL reactor and the ANM Mo99 Facility. The final siting of the facility has been selected considering process, security, surrounding buildings, logistics etc
The work to be performed under this Contract is the construction of the SyMo facility as set out in accordance with the ANSTO’s Contract documentation including but not limited to the technical specification, drawings, schematics and other documents as listed in the Appendix A.
The Contractor is responsible for coordination / completion and shall make all reasonable allowances for associated works.
