Department of Health, Disability and Ageing research has identified significant gaps in Medicare education and support for healthcare providers across all stages of their career lifecycle, including those at the very beginning of their career. The Department is seeking to work with up to 5 university medical schools in a pilot project to co-design and produce foundational Medicare education resources tailored for medical students.

The medical schools will deliver these resources to their students as part of the curriculum via a range of learning and teaching methods, such as (but not limited to) lectures, webinars, videos and online modules. There may also be a quiz or knowledge check to assess student engagement with the resources and understanding of the material.

The medical schools will undertake a comprehensive evaluation to identify the benefits and effectiveness of their resources and delivery method, lessons learned and recommendations for improvement. These may then be used to inform future roll outs of the education program.
