Research into Best Practice Models for the Online Teaching of Mathematics
The Research will examine the factors that contribute to the success of such models, as well as contexts and implementation issues. The Research builds upon existing strong models for teaching mathematics online.
At a minimum, the Research will:
• Address the policy question of “what products, approaches and programs have had success in lifting mathematics and numeracy outcomes during COVID-19 and why?”
• Assess the efficacy of different platforms and approaches for potential broader application. The research must contribute to the national evidence base for targeted initiatives across Australia that improve student outcomes particularly for vulnerable student cohorts.
• Consider the context for specific programs and approaches (eg. COVID pandemic, student vulnerability, student disadvantage, student disengagement, high performing and engaged students etc.).
Report on targeted initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes in mathematics learning particularly for vulnerable student cohorts.
