Review of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for Air Conditioners
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart
The Department intends to review MEPS for air conditioners to identify how best to calculate MEPS, what MEPS are appropriate, whether determinations can be consolidated, and any other considerations to update air conditioner determinations and NZ Energy Efficient Regulations.
This will include consultation with key stakeholders about options, cost benefit analyses of options for both Australia and New Zealand, and preparation of reports to support preparing a consultation regulation impact statement.

The contract is anticipated to commence from 10 October 2026 and conclude on 25 June 2027.
A one-year extension option will be incorporated into the contract to be exercised at the Department’s discretion.
