The National Blood Authority is seeking responses from potential suppliers to:

  1. update the Patient blood management guideline for adults with critical bleeding (the Guideline), trialling a living guideline approach. The purpose of the updated Guideline is to provide evidence-based recommendations, reflecting current evidence and best practice.
  2. as required, assist with the development of a variety of stakeholder communication and engagement materials.
  3. upon request, the Potential Supplier is to evaluate the evidence base across Patient Blood Management Guidelines: Module 2 Perioperative, Module 3 Medical, Module 4 Critical Care, Module 5 Obstetrics and Maternity, and Module 6 Neonatal and Paediatrics; and the Guideline for the prophylactic use of Rh D immunoglobulin in pregnancy care.

The updated Guideline will need to be developed in accordance with the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Guidelines for Guidelines Handbook to meet NHMRC Standards, currently the 2016 NHMRC Standards for Guidelines available at www.nhmrc.gov.au/guidelinesforguidelines/standards. The Guideline must be capable of being approved by the NHMRC.
