Agricultural waste for biomethane project
The purpose of the procurement is to determine the greenhouse gas emissions reduction potential of agricultural wastes diverted to produce biomethane for use as a natural gas substitute (consistent with the biomethane activities under existing methods).
Scientific research services are sought to determine the suitability of prospective agricultural wastes to deliver eligible abatement under a potential expanded Biomethane Emissions Reduction Fund method. The services required include:
• collection of data needed to support development of a potential new Emissions Reduction Fund method.
• estimating the abatement potential of each of the agricultural wastes, considering any greenhouse gas leakages that occur when the wastes are diverted to biomethane production.
The outputs from the project will be used to inform recommendations to the Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction during the Emissions Reduction Fund method prioritisation process for 2023.
Tenderers can request a copy of the Queensland University of Technology’s ‘Biomethane method - agricultural waste emissions report’ by submitting an email to Livestock@industry.gov.au.
Tenderers are asked to provide separate costings to research each of the individual agricultural waste types in their response to this request for tender.
1. The Tenderer and any subcontractors proposed in its tender must not be insolvent, bankrupt, in liquidation, or under administration or receivership as at the Closing Time.
2. The Tenderer and any subcontractors proposed in the tender must not be named as non-compliant with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (Cth) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency as at the Closing Time.
Findings for priority wastes by 24/06/2022. Findings for secondary wastes by 14/10/2022. Final Report by 16/12/2022.
