The Commonwealth has need for access to a wide range of mortuary and bereavement support services on an as-required basis, whether in Australia or overseas.

The ADF generally manages its own Mortuary and Bereavement Support needs. However, at times there may be a requirement to access contractor support.

The circumstances for which the Mortuary and Bereavement Support Panel is activated can differ each time, depending on a large number of factors, such as type and size of incident and geographical location.

The services required under the Mortuary and Bereavement Support Services Standing Offer Panel are generally divided into two phases

An initial assessment of a mortuary and/or bereavement support incident with the view to protecting the Commonwealth’s immediate interests; and 

The provision of specialist skills and/or equipment pertaining to Disaster Victim Identification, management of human remains and associated personal effects and bereavement support services services as required.
