Service 1 - Pickup and deliver Australian Border Force dogs to and from Detector Dog Units around Australia including the National Detector Dog Program Facility.

Service 1 Requirements

Transportation of dogs to and from DDP premises by aeroplane including:

  • cage / crate hire  
  • ground transport  

Delivery and Timings to be based on:

  • Delivery to plane to be no earlier than 75 minutes prior to a flights departure.
  • Pick up to be within 45 minutes of flight landing.

Flights to destination to be direct flights unless directed by or agreed to by the ABF officer making the booking.

Door to door delivery in dedicated animal transport vehicles will be between the following DDU units:

  • Cairns
  • Perth (Perth Airport)

  • Darwin (Darwin Airport)

  • Adelaide (Adelaide Airport)

  • Sydney (Banksmeadow)

  • Brisbane (Pinkenba)

  • Melbourne (Bulla)

Periodic deliveries may be required between DDP premises and the following places:

  • Canberra  
  • Hobart

Service 2 - Pickup and delivery of Detector Dog from Detector Dog units around Australia including the National Detector Dog Program Facility to operational areas.  Operational areas can include any other Australian state or territory and international destinations.

Service 2 Requirements

Transportation of dogs to and from DDP premises by aeroplane including:

  • cage / crate hire  
  • ground transport  

Delivery and Timings to be based on:

  • Delivery to plane to be no earlier than 75 minutes prior to a flights departure.
  • Pick up to be within 45 minutes of flight landing.

Flights to destination to be direct flights unless directed by or agreed to by the ABF officer making the booking.

The movement may include co-ordination of veterinary services and vaccinations as required for entry to overseas or Australian external territories. 

Service 3 - Booking system

Service 3 Requirements

A booking system is required to enable all DDP officers, no matter their location, to book through the one system.

The system must be able to take bookings up to four hours before departure.  

Phone support must be available for officers to contact if they have any issues during the booking process.

Service 4 - Non-Exclusive contract

Service 4 Requirements

Where there is an operational, animal welfare or financial reason to do so the ABF may opt to utilise any other company to move dogs between regions.

Service 5 - Other government agencies

Service 5 Requirements

This Contract may be utilised by other Commonwealth Agencies to move dogs using the same conditions as per clause 32. of the RFT Terms and Conditions.

A briefing will be on Wednesday the 5th of June 2019 at 1100 hours at the National Detector Dog Program Facility in Bulla Victoria . All attendees must register their attendance at: ddpe@abf.gov.au
