The Department of Health is seeking submissions for an order and distribution service model for stoma products and an education, information and support programs for ostomates under the Stoma Appliance Scheme.

The Department is seeking submissions for the following services:

  • timely and affordable delivery of stoma products, ensuring all ostomates access listed products efficiently, cost effectively and flexibly; and
  • an education, information and support program for ostomates including for example online learning, community outreach or awareness raising with tailored and accessible communications.

Submissions may address one or both requirements. Submissions may be made individually or in partnership with other organisations. Proposals can and should consider innovative ways to deliver the requirements. Innovation could also consider how other (government) product provision programs operate to support access for patients to medicines, aids or appliances.

There are currently approximately 45,000 ostomates accessing nearly 4000 products through the Scheme across Australia and Norfolk Island.
