Provision of Biodiversity Data Services and the Establishment of a Biodiversity Data Repository
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart
The DEAP Biodiversity Data Repository (BDR) project is seeking to pilot the capture, harmonisation and exchange of biodiversity data, initially between Western Australia and the Commonwealth, to support better informed and more transparent environmental assessment and decision-making.
The long-term vision for the BDR is to implement a nationally federated system of biodiversity data repositories to provide open access to more comprehensive and improved quality biodiversity data for all potential users. The BDR will adhere to the draft national data exchange standard to capture, harmonise and openly share data from many sources including government programs, publicly funded research and proponents.
Accordingly, the department is seeking to appoint a provider or providers to assist in the design, implementation and delivery of a pilot to capture, harmonise and exchange biodiversity data, initially between Western Australia and the Commonwealth, to support better informed and more transparent environmental assessment and decision-making. 5 Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment – RFT No. BDRP001.
In doing this the department is looking for solutions to establish and manage two key components of the BDR. Those being:
Part A - the provision of biodiversity data translation, integration, and adoption services (Biodiversity Data partner); and
Part B - the establishment and continued support and maintenance of a Biodiversity Data Repository (BDR database provider).
The Tenderer must be a legal entity at the Closing Time.
