ANSTO is Australia’s National Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation and the centre of Australian nuclear expertise. ANSTO is responsible for undertaking research and development and for delivering specialised advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organisations.

The SyMo facility will house a first of a kind production plant for the immobilisation of Intermediate Level Liquid Waste (ILLW) from Mo99 production. The SyMo Plant is to be built for processing of ILLW Alkaline waste within ANSTO facilities with SYNROC technology.  The SyMo facility is integral to ANSTO’s Strategic Plan and addresses the requirements for managing radioactive waste.

This ATM document details the scope of work and technical requirements for the detailed design, manufacture, supply and installation of a nuclear ready Conveyor and Transfer Gate system for integration into ANSTO’s new SyMo Facility.

This document specifies the requirements for the design, fabrication, delivery, testing, installation and commissioning of conveyors to be installed in the SyMo Facility Hot Cells. The conveying system design provides for the movement of a HIP CAN between three (3) hot cells within the SyMo Facility, with these being the Filling Hot Cell (FHC), Docking Hot Cell (DHC), and HIP Hot Cell (HHC).  Conceptual Engineering (30% design) for the conveyor design is provided within this specification and associated data sheets. It specifies the capacity, dimensional requirements, functionality, Instrumentation and Control requirements, and safety requirements to enable detailed engineering and supply by the contracted vendor.  The design is intended to be modular and so further design information is presented in data sheets which described the requirements for individual conveyor modules.  The contractor shall provide preliminary engineering (70% design) and detailed engineering (100% design) for ANSTO to review and agree to.
