Industry Notice - Square Kilometre Array Infrastructure 1 (Spatial) Market Survey
The Commonwealth of Australia as represented by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) coordinates the Commonwealth’s national and international involvement in the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, which is a global big-science project to build the world’s largest and most capable radio telescopes.
The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is the intergovernmental organisation responsible for undertaking the SKA project including the construction and operation of the SKA telescopes. The SKAO is a separate legal entity to, and is not controlled by, the Commonwealth.
The SKAO is running a market survey for the Square Kilometre Array Infrastructure 1 (Spatial) contract. The objective is to provide some of the infrastructure at the SKA site in the Mid West region of Western Australia for the SKA telescope’s central core and spiral arms. The work elements are: power and fibre networks; fibre cable assembly; ground preparation; and access tracks.
Completing the SKAO market survey is a mandatory step for participation in any subsequent tender conducted by the SKAO for this contract. The SKAO market survey is hosted on the SKAO Procurement Portal, which is accessed through the SKAO’s procurement page (https://www.skatelescope.org/procurement/). The SKAO is solely responsible for managing this survey and all other aspects of any procurement processes that may follow. This survey and any subsequent procurement processes undertaken by the SKAO are not procurements undertaken by or on behalf of DISER and DISER is not involved in administering the survey or any resulting procurement and is not responsible for the SKAO’s actions.
No guarantees of future procurement are implied by the issue of this market survey.
Participation in this market survey is not a prerequisite for participation in possible future procurement activities for other contracts, run by the SKAO.
