NGTF - Quantum Research Network – Quantum-Enhanced Communication
The Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) Quantum Research Network (QRN), under the Next Generation Technologies Fund (NGTF), is seeking submissions in the area of Quantum-Enhanced Communications (QEC). We will contribute funding and support innovative proposals from industry, academia and Government-Funded Organisations (GFO) that identify and pursue QEC S&T areas critical for future Australian Defence capability. This new call seeks to build upon the successful outcomes of previous rounds of QRN investment, and to identify new partnering opportunities at the intersection of quantum technology and communications.
S&T proposals are sought in the field of QEC technologies and systems, applicable to one or more of the following broad focus areas:
1. Quantum-secured communication
2. Quantum time transfer
3. Quantum memories and repeaters
4. Free-space quantum communications
5. Quantum-enabled RF communications
6. Quantum-enhanced classical communications
The NGTF Quantum Technologies Priority Theme is particularly aligned to the QAPNT STaR Shot. A key priority is to build sovereign capability in strategic quantum-enhanced communication technologies that will assist in addressing the challenge of operating in a GPS denied/compromised environment.
DSTG will provide a research program brief to all interested parties via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 19th of January 2023. This will provide an opportunity for clarifications and questions to be raised. Any further questions after this brief will need to be provide in writing with DSTG providing a written response that will be provided to all parties. Nominations to attend the briefing are to be forwarded in writing to the Contact Officer via email (qt.ngtf@defence.gov.au) by Tuesday 17th of January 2023 to be provided a Microsoft Teams invite. For security purposes: Full Name, Organisation, Position, Mobile Telephone No., and email address of all nominated personnel are to be included at the time of nomination.
Potential Suppliers wishing to respond to this procurement will be required to fully comply with and meet the
following conditions for participation:
a. Clause 8 - Statement of Tax Record (STR)
b. Clause 12 - Defence Security requirements;
c. Applicants must hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) or a New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) to
participate in this procurement.
