The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is seeking to engage with a suitably capable and experienced organisation to deliver the Veterans’ Medicines Advice and Therapeutics Education (Veterans’ MATES) program.

The program aims to enhance the physical wellbeing and quality of life of the veteran community through the provision of therapeutic education information and advice on medicine use to veterans, and their treating medical practitioners.

DVA encourages tenders from organisations that have prior experience and access to the analytical tools, systems, procedures and clinical expertise in pharmacoepidemiology to analyse data, identify medication related problems, develop interventions, and to identify and monitor and emerging health care trends and issues.

The Services to be provided include, the delivery of a research-driven, QUM program that provides timely, targeted information to veterans and their health providers to improve the health of the veteran community by encouraging better use of medicines and the utilisation of all available health and other support services.

The program services also include the provision of contemporary data-based medicine prescribing information and research into prescribing trends, emerging issues, and developments in healthcare relevant to the delivery of DVA programs and operations.

In delivering the required services it is expected that organisations will provide high quality services and ensure processes, practices and methods of delivery are based on, and are respectful of, the needs of veterans and their families.

Services are expected to commence in January 2023.
