The Department requires Employment Facilitators to provide a local, full-time individual in three separate regions:

Tasmania from 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2024

The Employment Facilitator will cover the entire state of Tasmania to support structural adjustment events and large scale or significant redundancies.

Southern Darling Range (WA)  from 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2025

The Employment Facilitator will cover the entire Southern Darling Range region including key areas such as the suburb of Henderson in the south of Perth, Garden Island, Rockingham, Mandurah, Bunbury, down to Capel and Donnybrook. The region will include the town of Collie to enable the Employment Facilitator to support workers impacted by planned closures of coal-fired power stations. The focus on Henderson and Garden Island is to support the naval shipbuilding workforce.

Upper Spencer Gulf (SA) from 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2024

The Employment Facilitator in South Australia will primarily support the regions of Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Augusta to support structural adjustment events and large scale or significant redundancies. It will also extend to cover the towns of Port Wakefield, Clare, Kadina, Wallaroo, Moonta and Peterborough and surrounding regions.

See the maps in the attachments for the full coverage of the regions.

The Employment Facilitator role is one of the ways the Commonwealth government assists with significant structural adjustment or transition events in the region identified by government. The Employment Facilitator is to be based in the region to provide a local point of contact for the Commonwealth government with key stakeholders. The department will work closely with the Employment Facilitators to provide effective support in each region.

The Employment Facilitator helps retrenched workers and other job seekers access existing assistance and programs, in collaboration with employment service providers. This includes assisting retrenched workers and other job seekers to connect them with career advice, training and job opportunities. The Employment Facilitator role is not expected to deliver the same or similar services as jobactive (the Australian Government’s employment services program), but to work in conjunction with employment service providers in the region.
