The Defence estate is a critical enabler of a more capable, agile and potent Defence capability - it supports the generation and sustainment of the Australian Defence Force and is a place where people live and work.
Subject to Government approval, and value for money being achieved, the Commonwealth (Department of Defence) intends to procure 991 contemporary live-in accommodation (LIA) units via a public private partnership (PPP) model at Randwick Barracks, Sydney, NSW.
Department of Defence intends to engage industry through expressions of interest (EOI) for options to plan, design, construct, finance and deliver the ongoing operations and sustainment (such as hard and soft FM) of the Project in Q1 2022. Defence may explore options to meet future requirements for additional LIA. Further refined requirements will be set out in the EOI.
Pending the outcome of the EOI there is expected to be a shortlisted number of respondents who may be invited to participate in a further process.
This project provides an opportunity for the private sector to develop innovative design solutions to best meet Defence’s requirements. The project intends to provide a long-term, consolidated LIA solution for Sydney in recognition of LIA being a major contributor to Defence capability. Permanent LIA enables personnel mobility in support of operational requirements and the extent and quality of the accommodation available has a significant impact on morale and Defence’s ability to attract and retain ADF members.
