Professional Conference Organiser and Events Manager for the 2023 First Nations Land and Water Management Forum
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart
In 2020 the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) undertook consultations with Indigenous Ranger (IR) and Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) provider organisations. Feedback from participants indicated there is a need for a national conference on land and water management to facilitate opportunities for organisations to share information and learnings to support effective project delivery and management of Country.
The First Nations Land and Water Management Forum (2023 Forum) responds to the feedback, supporting organisations to build capability and foster partnership while building their understanding of Indigenous land and water management priorities across the national landscape. The 2023 Forum will be delivered by NIAA in partnership with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
A First Nations Land and Water Management Steering Committee (Steering Committee) comprising representatives from NIAA, DCCEEW and other indigenous organisations and partners. The Steering Committee will be the governing body and following recommendations by the PCO will make final decisions on a range of conference activities including the venue and ticket price.
A Traditional Owner/local First Nations group(s) or organisation from the agreed location will be procured by the NIAA to provide cultural and local knowledge, including welcome to country, cultural celebration, local entertainment and likely stall holders. The group(s) will sit on the Steering Committee to support the delivery of the 2023 Forum.
NIAA requires an innovative, highly experienced Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) to manage logistics, venue, events program and facilitation of the 2023 Forum.
The 2023 Forum will be a three (3) day event including conference, gala dinner and trade show/exhibition providing an opportunity for IR and IPA providers and other key stakeholders to network face to face. The 2023 Forum will support IR and IPA providers to strengthen First Nations cultures, knowledge and governance, to improve land and water management practices, enhancing learning and capability.
The 2023 Forum is proposed to be held from Tuesday 31 October 2023 to Thursday 02 November 2023. It is expected the 2023 Forum will attract up to 600 delegates, including First Nation leaders, Indigenous land and sea country managers, local community members and corporate sponsors.
The 2023 Forum will be a not-for-profit event. The Commonwealth will fund the project with additional funds sourced from ticket sales, exhibitor fees and sponsorship. It will be important that ticket prices be attractive and cost effective to support IR, community members and IPA providers who will be travelling from across Australia.
The Potential Supplier is encouraged to bring an innovative approach to the tender providing suggestions and ideas about delivering the forum in a way that enhances the delegate experience.
The Potential Supplier is expected to demonstrate experience and capability to deliver the 2023 Forum in a culturally respectful manner to First Nations traditional owners and 2023 Forum participants.
