Employment Facilitator Services for the Hunter Valley Region in New South Wales
The department is seeking to appoint an Employment Facilitator in the Hunter region New South Wales from 15 January 2021-30 June 2024. A support officer role will be included to assist in the delivery of the Local Jobs Program up to 30 June 2022. The Employment Facilitator will be based in the Hunter region and will work closely with the Australian Government, the New South Wales State Government, local councils and other key stakeholders. The Employment Facilitator will provide on-the-ground assistance to help the region prepare to successfully transition ahead of the closure of the Liddell power station in 2023 and other significant structural adjustment or transition events identified by the government in the Region.
The Employment Facilitator will implement the Local Jobs Program (LJP) which was announced by the Australian Government on 1 September 2020, as part of the economic response to COVID-19. The Local Jobs Program supports the development and implementation of tailored approaches to accelerate reskilling, upskilling and employment pathways across 25 Employment Regions throughout Australia. Employment Facilitators will work with the Hunter region Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce to maintain a Local Jobs Plan identifying key employment and training priorities and support Australians back into work. A Local Recovery Fund will be available in the Hunter Employment Region to support LJP Activities that meet the Local Jobs Plan priorities. Further detail regarding the LJP is available on the department’s website (www.dese.gov.au/local-jobs-program).
