Potential tenderers are advised that the procurement strategy for the EST06163 - P0012 National Airfield Maintenance Works Project - RAAF Base Townsville - involves the early the engagement of an Early Contractor Involvement - Head Contractor (ECI HC) for the Planning Phase.

The ECI HC is expected to provide buildability, constructability, programming, staging and risk mitigation advice during the Planning Phase and subsequently deliver the works in the Delivery Phase, subject to Departmental, Government and Parliamentary Approvals.

Contractors will be required to demonstrate their capacity to deliver large scale airfield maintenance works as part of the Request for Tender response; for example, asphalt resurfacing and concrete reconstruction of airfield pavement, Aeronautical Ground Lighting and pavement drainage.

The scope includes:

P0012 TVL

·         Runway 01/19 asphalt resurfacing, lift and reinstate of AGL, new swale and culvert system, decommissioning of parts of the pit and pipe network, and simple approach lighting system replacement;

·         Taxiways A1–A7, D1-D2, K, E1-E2, G1-G2, W and Z - asphalt resurfacing new AGL including new pit and duct;

·         Taxiways M, S, T, U1-U2, V, Z – asphalt resurfacing and new AGL on taxiway pavement;

·         Taxiways C, F – asphalt resurfacing;

·         Maritime OLA 12-14, EOA 11, Fighter Strike OLAs 1-10 Taxiways – asphalt overlay and new AGL;

·         New Central Illuminated Wind Direction Indicator (IWDI); and

·         Selected Movement Area Guidance Signs (MAGS) replacement.

AIR7000 TVL

·         Runway 01/19 extension; and

·         Fillet widening at Taxiways E1, E2, M and Maritime OLAs 13 and 14.

P0006 TVL

·         Runway 01 and 19 threshold reconstruction;

·         Taxiway A1 and A7 concrete reconstruction; and

·         Lift and replacement of AGL affected by the pavement works.
