Infrared Heating and Control System
Supply of a scalable, controllable high heat flux infrared (IR) heating system capable of providing a minimum shortwave IR heat source equivalent to 600 kW/m2. The system is to be capable of continuous operation at full power/heat output. The system will comprise of 3 primary components: the Controller module; the Power module and the Heater module(s). Appropriate cabling is required to connect the Controller module to the Power module, and each Heater module with the Power module.
The system is to be provided with all necessary safety devices and operating procedures, and must comply as per applicable Australian Standards and Legislative Requirements.
The Controller module must be capable of appropriate connections to a user supplied PC via software interface and the ability to connect to up to four (4) Power modules. There is also a requirement for the ability to synchronously control/regulate the Power module in a user-selected system control mode (e.g. open loop, sensed power output, etc.). The Controller module must have the flexibility to directly connect to any number of measurement sensors (with a minimum of at least 16 sensor connections) and for user-selection of which sensing channels are used as primary feedback in the control loop. The Controller module must also have the ability to log all system and sensor data and have a minimum of 16 Digital output relays and 16 digital input channels for logic actions.
The Power Module will connect to a nominal 400V 400A 3-phase power circuit and contain a power controller with appropriate capacity to utilise maximum power available on the circuit. Provisions for fused connection points to up to 20 individual Heater modules and flexibility to connect up to a maximum of 20 individual Heat modules. The Power module must have separate E-stop/power isolation and held within appropriate housing for safety and environmental management with externally visible system status indicators/display.
The Heat modules will provide a nominal short wave IR heat output of greater than 600 kW/m2 at a nominal heated zone size of 0.015m2 (0.25m x 0.06m), or similar. Heater units are to have integrated thermal management (water/air cooling), appropriate mounting features, and built in sensors (e.g. thermocouples) for enabling real-time measurement of heater module health status.
The system as a whole will be provided with open-source software to enable configuration and operation of the system via a GUI to enable users to undertake:
- system configuration;
- sensor input definition and calibration;
- digital input/output configuration;
- test configuration (incl. control mode, command profile loading, etc.);
- safety/interlock logic;
- test operation functions (incl. data acquisition);
- system event logging.
