Development of a National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Preventive Health
This is a pre-release notice intended to advise suitable organisations of an upcoming request for tender (RFT) for the procurement of an organisation to develop a National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Preventive Health.
The National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Preventive Health will support the National Preventive Health Strategy, which is due to be finalised in the second half of 2021. The National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Preventive Health will aim to strengthen partnerships, including between health policy makers and the community.
The Department intends to release the RFT to market in late September/early October 2021.
A comprehensive, evidence-based National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Preventive Health is required to facilitate consumer participation and engagement at all levels of the health system. This strategic document will be integral to consumers and consumer groups being recognised as equal participants in health partnerships and will embed the principles of co-design and shared decision making into the prevention system.
The objective of the National Consumer Engagement Strategy for Preventive Health is to assist consumers in understanding the touch points for engagement in policy development and evaluation, and to improve policy makers’ understanding of the best and most effective opportunities for engagement with consumers during the policy and continuous improvement cycles. These partnerships and co-design processes are of particular importance in addressing the needs of priority populations, including but not limited to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Australians from CALD communities, and rural and remote populations. It is critical these partnerships are strengthened to enable the development of effective and sustainable solutions that meet the diverse needs of all Australians.
