Project Management Services
Melbourne
GNSB is responsible for the provision of communications services for members of the Australian Government’s ministry based within the Melbourne CPO, a heritage listed building. These services are delivered to the ministerial suites distributed over four floors via optical fibre runs (secured in flexible steel conduit) from the building’s communications room.
This infrastructure, comprising OM1 Volition fibre which was installed in 1999 and has now reached its end of life and will need to be replaced. In addition, a number of minor building works have been identified to improve the acoustic integrity of the ministerial offices. GNSB intends to undertake these works in concert with the cabling replacement in order to minimise the disturbance to the building’s tenants.
GNSB is undertaking a project to refresh the passive network infrastructure and to upgrade the acoustic integrity of the ministerial suites within the Melbourne CPO:
• The network remediation scope includes the replacement of all the existing Volition fibre with OS2 single mode fibre, as well as replacing the existing communications interconnects with an up-to-date patching solution; and
• The scope of the acoustic remediation is largely confined to works around the suites main doors, replacing and resealing them.
The discovery and design documentation provided with this ATM is from an initial project phase and is intended to guide rather than constrain the ATM responses.
