Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Research, Review, Technical Writing, Training and Other Support Services Panel
This is a pre-release notice intended to advise of an upcoming Request for Tender (RFT) to establish a Panel Arrangement of groups and individuals proficient in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to provide a range of assessment, review, research, technical writing, training, and other support services to the Department. Access to clinical expertise will be well regarded. Tenders are welcome from both Australian and international individuals and groups.
The Commonwealth of Australia, acting through the Department of Health (the Department) works towards better health and wellbeing for all Australians, now and for future generations. The Department aims to achieve its vision through evidence-based policy, well-targeted programs, and best-practice regulation.
The Department requires Health Technology Assessment (HTA) expertise to inform its policy, program, and regulatory functions. It supports a number of HTA Committees, including the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), the Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC), and the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), along with their sub-committees and working groups. These committees are generally independent scientific committees comprising individuals with expertise in clinical medicine, epidemiology, health economics and consumer matters.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is part of the Department and is responsible for regulating therapeutic goods including prescription medicines, vaccines, sunscreens, vitamins and minerals, medical devices, blood, and blood products.
The Department is seeking to use the HTA Panel, comprising organisations and individuals proficient in HTA and preferably with access to clinical expertise, to provide assessment services to support policy and program development, including the operation of, and recommendations made by HTA Committees such as MSAC, PBAC, PLAC, ATAGI and their sub-committees and working groups.
In addition, the TGA is seeking suitable organisations and individuals to support assessment of safety, quality, and performance of medical devices and to provide high quality technical evaluation reports.
Australian and international organisations and independently operating individuals with the appropriate expertise, and able to fulfill requirements and satisfy conditions of tender, are encouraged to apply.
