A range of wheat morphological and anatomical traits have been suggested as being associated with reduced sensitivity to flowering frost damage. This investment will seek to validate whether such morphological and anatomical wheat traits are indeed associated with reduced sensitivity to flowering frost damage through detailed investigation of wheat germplasm differing for such traits under replicated experimental conditions. The results from this investment will establish whether the manipulation of such traits represents a feasible route that wheat breeders could take to improve crop yields in frost-prone cropping environments.
