With an objective of growing Australia’s international research partnerships with the important Southeast Asian (SEA) region, the department seeks project management services to coordinate with regional Australian universities or research institutions to deliver at least two research workshops in Australia. The workshops will enable participating Australian and SEA researchers to develop productive linkages and opportunities to reach agreement on mutually beneficial research collaboration.

The selected Supplier will:

  • work with regional Australian research communities to identify and agree on the fields of research for focus at the workshops, to be agreed with the department

  • identify regional institutions to host workshops, maximising in-kind contribution/support from Australian institutions

  • organise an Expression of Interest process in consultation with regional universities to identify interested and suitable participants

  • invite and assess research proposals that offer the best prospect of increasing research cooperation between Australia and SEA research partners

  • identify relevant SEA research institutions (to be agreed with the department), secure the participation of appropriate researchers, and arrange travel/accommodation for those SEA participants funded through the project

  • maximise stakeholder participation, including pre-workshop collaboration

  • work with the host regional universities/research institutes to organise workshop programs and secure participation of relevant Australian researchers

  • manage workshop logistics, including catering, and facilitate workshops

  • develop strategies for supporting participants to progress mutually agreed research projects and increasing productive researcher-to-researcher links.
