Australian Mining Industry Review
ARPANSA has a statutory mandate to protect the health and safety of people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation, and to promote uniformity of radiation protection. Consistent with this statutory role, ARPANSA is seeking to expand the Australian National Radiation Dose Register (ANRDR) beyond the uranium mining industry to include workers occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation in other forms of radioactive ore mining and milling. The objective of the Australian Mining Industry Review is to examine the reporting and monitoring systems in the mining and milling sector currently in place and to formulate strategies for expansion of the ANRDR to include dose histories of workers occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation from all forms of mining.
