Joint Project 9102 (JP 9102) is scoped to deliver the Australian Defence Forces' future Satellite Communication (SATCOM) capability across the space, ground, and control segments.
As part of early industry engagement, input is being sought from industry to assist in the shaping of the initial Industry Request for Information (RFI). This will ensure that the RFI is tailored to elicit the most meaningful information from industry and can be answered meaningfully and efficiently.
The process of shaping the RFI will commence with a Brief to Industry, at which interested industry representatives will be provided with an overview of the Project's current scope, timeframes, challenges and next steps. The intent of the Brief is to provide sufficient background information to enable industry to:
• Understand the future SATCOM needs of the ADF
• Connect with other commercial entities to initiate cooperative links that may assist in meeting the future SATCOM needs of the ADF
• Determine interest in participation in the subsequent RFI Shaping Working Group.
The Brief to Industry will be conducted on Friday 28 September 2018, from 0930h-1200h, in the Adams Auditorium at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra. The Brief will be unclassified, and will be delivered by the Deputy Director of Future ADF Satellite Communications on behalf of the Joint Capabilities Group.
Should you wish to attend the Brief to Industry, please complete the attached registration form and return it via email to AS.DSS@defence.gov.au by 1200h AEDT on Thursday 27 September 2018.
Please note that the representatives named on the pre-registration form will be the only personnel permitted into the Brief.
Subsequent to the Brief to Industry, an RFI shaping Working Group will be conducted by the Commonwealth in collaboration with the Australian Defence Information and Electronic Systems Association (ADIESA), under the auspices of the joint Commonwealth and ADIESA SATCOM Focus Group. The Working Group will be conducted on Wednesday 17 October 2018 in Canberra, ACT. The aim of the RFI Working Group is to seek input from industry to assist in the development of the questions that form the content of the RFI that will later be released to industry.
Attendance of a company delegate at the Industry Briefing is a prerequisite to company representation at the RFI shaping Working Group.
This is a market research exercise and is not an approach to market. The Commonwealth will not down select or exclude any companies from future participation in JP 9102 based on their attendance or non attendance at the Industry Brief or RFI Working Groups, or their participation in any future RFI. This notice or attendance at the Industry Brief or RFI Working Group does not represent a guarantee of future work in any format. JP 9102 is subject to Government approval. No procurement activities have been approved to proceed in connection with JP 9102 at this stage. Membership of ADIESA is not a prerequisite to attendance at the Information Brief or the RFI Working Group.
