DVA advises interested parties that it will release a RFT for a suitably qualified and experienced organisation to deliver the Veterans’ MATES program. Currently DVA expects the RFT to be released in mid-late April 2015.

The aim of the Veterans’ MATES program is to:

·         Optimise the use of medicines to improve health outcomes and quality of life for veterans.

The objectives of the program are to:

·         Provide pharmacotherapeutic educational services for health professions with a specific focus on Local Medical Officers (LMOs) who care for targeted veterans and pharmacists; and

·         Provide medicines advice and skills training for veterans to promote safe and quality use of medicines.

The Veterans’ MATES program incorporates a range of components including:

1.       Education modules that support the education of prescribers, pharmacists, other health care providers and veterans

2.       National call centre that supports health professionals and veterans queries

3.       Veterans’ MATES website designed to support prescribers and veterans

4.       Analysis of veterans’ use of medicines, which includes analysis at a population level and at an individual level

5.       Analysis of healthcare trends and program advice that guides the development of the program to strengthen health outcome for veterans

6.     Promotion of program activities.

Please note the purpose of this notice is to provide interested parties with advance notice so they can begin planning and considerations of partners should they wish to respond to an RFT, if released by DVA.

Additional information on Veterans’ MATES can be found at https://www.veteransmates.net.au

DVA’s requirements for Veterans’ MATES and other background information will be made available in the RFT. Please be aware that DVA reserves the right not to release an RFT for Veterans’ MATES.

DVA will not be taking any questions until the RFT (if any) is released.
