Reducing the Cost of Remittances to the Pacific
REQUEST FOR TENDER
AusAID, the Australian Agency for International Development, manages the Australian Government’s official overseas aid program. AusAID assists developing countries to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development, in line with Australia’s national interest. AusAID is seeking a contractor to undertake the following development project for the Pacific:
REDUCING THE COST OF REMITTANCES TO THE PACIFIC
Official remittances are worth at least US$400 million to the Pacific region. AusAID is looking to improve the return to the Pacific from remittances by helping to lower the cost of remittance by means of a simple and low-cost initiative, a website that allows a remitter to compare all available remittance services to their destination, particularly by cost. The dedicated website will provide transparent, easy to understand information to assist Australian and New Zealand senders and recipients in Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, Tonga, Tuvalu and the Solomon Islands.
It is anticipated that the project will commence about May 2008 and will continue over 3 years.
Selection will be on a one step basis. The closing date for submission of proposals is Wednesday 26 March 2008, 2pm (AEST).
