The current procurement model for ICT Contractor Resources has been utilised by Federal Government for more than 10 years.  It is the ATO’s belief that given changes in the ICT industry and recruitment practices over this time that the current process may not be an effective long-term solution.

On 4th February 2014 the ATO commenced an IT Contractor Procurement Reform Program with a view to establishing a best practice approach to IT Contractor procurement, engagement and ongoing management that will deliver:

• Improved industry engagement;
• Greater efficiency in identifying and engaging contractor resources;
• Enhanced contractor engagement, retention and performance;
• Enhanced accountability and transparency through the procurement process; and
• Ongoing, sustained cost reductions.

The ATO is seeking to make working with the ATO simpler and more cost effective for industry and in return are looking to achieve greater efficiency and cost savings.

Industry Briefing
The industry briefing will provide an overview of the IT Contractor Procurement Reform Program being undertaken by the ATO.
The content of the briefing will focus on why the reform is needed, the benefits the ATO is seeking to achieve and how Industry can participate in contributing to the reform.
The ATO will be seeking initial and ongoing input into the reform from Industry.

Participants in the Industry Briefing will be invited to present directly to the ATO on their views around industry best practice and appropriate engagement models that will support the ATO and Industry in achieving the required reform outcomes.
