The suite of tools and material will be used to:
-
Inform patients about the risks, benefits and alternative therapies to the use of blood and blood products. This is strongly emphasised in the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, particularly in relation to informed consent; and
-
Educate and support healthcare workers in a general practice setting about the risks, benefits and alternative therapies to the use of blood and blood products including the importance of anaemia management, in particular for those patients requiring surgery.
