Consultancy services for shellfish biotoxin management reviews

The Customer is seeking a subject matter expert to:
(a) conduct a review and assessment of the biotoxin risk assessments and biotoxin management plans (BMPs) that are part of the shellfish quality assurance programs (SQAPs) that are managed by each state shellfish control agency (SSCA) in the following States: NSW; VIC; TAS; SA and WA and set out in Attachment B, to this ATM; and
(b) advise whether there is sufficient evidence to support the biotoxin risk assessments that underpin each of the SSCA’s biotoxin management programs and whether there are any weaknesses in risk assessment methodologies; and
(c) advise whether the frequency of the phytoplankton and biotoxin monitoring being undertaken in Australian export shellfish harvest areas is adequate to manage biotoxins, protect human health and prevent recall of shellfish due to biotoxins.
(d) make recommendations on the current export standard and its references to biotoxin management, that would improve consistency in understanding and implementation of requirements.
