Supply and Commission an Axial / Torsional Testing System
Canberra
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) requires from suitably qualified and experienced providers an Axial/Torsional Testing System to support the mechanical testing of medical devices.
Biomaterials and Engineering Section requires a configurable and customisable electromechanical or servo-hydraulic system for axial/torsional testing of metals, polymers, wood, fibres & textiles, adhesives & coatings and foams. The section evaluates the mechanical/physical properties of a large variety of medical devices to evaluate tensile & compressive strength, bending/flexural strength, adhesion/peel properties, tear, puncture, torsional /shear strength, ductility and deflection.
The proposed system requires:
- testing in torsion and tension individually and concurrently,
-
extensometers and sensors for measuring extension and deflection of different material types and specimen dimensions and product geometries,
-
the ability to reconfigure the testing set-up through the addition, replacement, or repositioning of grips and mounts for different medical device product groups, and
-
software that allows for the customisation of testing protocols to ensure future testing needs are satisfied. Addition of APIs for customised control of the instrument is desired.
