Expression Of Interest (EOI) for the Construction of Building 20B Extension
ANSTO is Australia’s national nuclear science and technology organisation and the centre of Australian nuclear expertise. ANSTO is responsible for undertaking research and development and for delivering specialised advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organisations.
ANSTO wishes to construct an extension to the current Building 20b (B20b) Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) for interim storage of generated Low Level Solid Waste (LLSW) in both un-conditioned and conditioned form. The waste will eventually be transported to the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility (NRWMF) to be constructed by the federal government.
This project is of high priority and strategic importance as majority of ANSTOs core operations generate a steady stream of LLSW. The facility is required to be constructed and operational by mid-2018 in order to mitigate any impact to ANSTOs core operations.
ANSTO is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced companies that want to tender for the construction of the Building 20b (B20b) Extension facility.
The opportunity exists for a suitably experienced company to participate in the construction of the B20b Extension facility.
The company will be responsible for the construction of the new extension facility to be sited at the Lucas Heights campus in NSW, Australia. It is envisaged that the proposed facility will be approximately 2,000 square metres in size (excluding roads) and includes components such as:
• ‘Typical’ building services such as civil, structural, mechanical, gas, electrical, hydraulic and fire;
• Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) for management of incoming LLSW pallets;
• Semi-Automated building crane (20 tonne DGR) for handling containers with conditioned LLSW;
Mandatory Requirements
ANSTO is looking to appoint a company with suitable construction expertise to assist ANSTO in delivering the licensed facility.
Mandatory requirements in tendering for the B20b Extension project include:
• Recent and relevant experience in multi discipline industrial type projects of a comparable nature to the B20b Extension facility.
• Acceptance to ANSTO’s General Conditions of Contract and Special Conditions of Contract e.g. modified AS4000;
• An accredited Quality Management System which complies with or is equivalent to AS/NZS ISO 9001;
• An accredited Environmental management policy which complies with or is equivalent to the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 14000; and
• Registration with the Federal Safety Commission (FSC).
Must meet Mandatory Requirement, must submit all relevant information requested in the EOI Schedules
