Design manufacture and Supply of Vibratory Calciner to ANSTO SyMo Project
ANSTO is Australia’s National Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation and the centre of Australian nuclear expertise. ANSTO is responsible for undertaking research and development and for delivering specialised advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organisations.
On the 19th September 2012, Minister for Science and Research, Senator Chris Evans made an announcement giving the go ahead to the ANSTO Nuclear Medicine (ANM) Program which includes a nuclear medicine plant and associated waste treatment facility (SyMo Facility) to be built at the ANSTO Lucas Heights campus. The SyMo facility will house a first of a kind production plant for the immobilisation of Intermediate Level Liquid Waste (ILLW) from Mo99 production. SyMo Plant is to be built for processing two types of ILLW, Alkaline Liquid waste and Acidic Legacy waste, within ANSTO facilities with SYNROC technology. The SyMo Plant is integral to ANSTO’s Strategic Plan and addresses the requirements for managing radioactive waste.
The Vibratory Calciner forms part of the SyMo plant front end process. This calciner is to be operated initially in the ANSTO Building 3 laboratories in the mock-up plant and then modified and upgraded as required to enable reuse in the final SyMo plant.
This RFT is to enable the tenderers to quote for the design, manufacture and deliver a Vibratory Calciner.
The scope itemsfor the contractor under this scope of work comprise the following:
1. Design and engineer the Calciner furnace to the “final version” specifications
2. Design and engineer the Calciner Vibratory system to the “final version” specifications
3. Design the spiral elevator assembly (i.e. retort + cone + sleeve) to final design version and construct in a lower cost stainless steel for mockup testing only (such as 316L stainless or equivalent). ANSTO will provide guidance on compatible alloys)
4. After mock up testing, any modifications made to the stainless steel retort + cone +sleeve mockup version will be incorporated into the final design.
5. Build new and final retort + cone +sleeve in INCONEL 601 or equivalent for the final plant. ANSTO will provide input on the final materials selection.
Must submit all the tender schedules
As mentioned in the RFT
