australianscreen online is a web-based resource offering access to a vast range of moving image material drawn from the Australian film and television industries. Sourced from the National Film and Sound Archive and other archive collections including the National Archives of Australia, the ABC, SBS and AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies), this material is freely available online for educational users and the general public. The site has been developed by the Australian Film Commission (AFC) in partnership with the Curriculum Corporation, through the Learning Federation and will be hosted by AARNet (Australia's Academic Research and Education Network). australianscreen online is a project developed and funded as part of the Government’s 2004 election policy, A World Class Australian Film Industry, which supported the AFC to expand its screen culture activities. As well as excerpts from feature films, documentaries, television drama, newsreels, short films, animations, Indigenous programs and home movies produced in Australia over the past 100 years, the website includes information about the programs, curators' notes, and links to producers’ and distributors’ home pages and other sources of information about the programs. Educational and curriculum support material is supplied by Curriculum Corporation, through The Le@rning Federation. Curriculum Corporation is an independently operated, not-for-profit organisation owned by all Australian Education Ministers. The Le@rning Federation is an initiative of the state, territory and federal governments of Australia and New Zealand to provide quality online curriculum content for schools.  The three-year Establishment Phase of the project will result in more than 1,000 titles posted on the site by July 2008. Work will continue after this phase to add further titles and expand the interactive functionality of the site. The AFC is seeking to develop a register of curators for the ongoing development of the australianscreen online website. Curators are sought for all types of audiovisual material currently on the website as well as other areas of content.   From this EOI process it is planned to shortlist a number of suitable respondents who will be listed in a Register of Suitable Curators and invited to enter into a Deed of Standing Offer for the ongoing provision of Curatorial Services as and when required by the AFC. The Register of Suitable Curators will be in place for 2 years and the duration of the Deeds of Standing Offer will also be 2 years.

Being offered an opportunity to enter into a Deed of Standing Offer

does not guarantee Contractors any specific quantity of work nor

will the AFC be required to exclusively use the shortlisted

contractors services. It is the AFC’s intention to offer work to Contractors who have been placed on the Register based on their level of experience, specific subject specialisation, availability and the amount of work on offer.
